The Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB) is set to host the 9th International Conference on Medical and Health Sciences (the 9th ICMH 2025) from 28 to 30ย August 2025, tentatively at Pemako, Thimphu. This year's theme, "A Holistic Approach to Healthy Ageing Amidst Emerging and Re-emerging Communicable Diseases and Demographicย Shifts" underscores the importance of addressing health challenges in the context of an ageing global population in the nick of rising Non-Communicable Diaseases (NCDs), including mental health challenges and demographic shifts.

This yearโ€™s Conference Sub-themes include:

  1. Advancing Nutrition and Combating Non-Communicable Diseases for a Healthier Future
  2. Innovative Approaches to Mental Health, Healthcare Delivery, and Aging: Shaping the Future of Global Health
  3. Embracing Telemedicine/Telehealth and Digital Transformation for Advancing Quality Healthcare and Effective Health Communication
  4. Navigating the Challenges of Fertility Decline and Demographic Shift: Socio-Economic Impacts and Public Health Strategies

Conferences like the ICMH since its initiation in the year 2016, provide invaluable platforms forย intellectual exchange, collaboration, and discovery. They facilitate the sharing of knowledge,ย foster innovation, and address critical challenges facing our global community. The 9 th ICMHย 2025 aims to create a unique opportunity for both local and regional health professionals toย stay updated on the latest scientific developments in clinical, medical, and health fields.
Moreover, it offers a common platform for international researchers to present their findings,ย share knowledge, exchange ideas and best practices, interact, and build networks for futureย collaborations.

The Scientific Committee (SC) of the ICMH plays a crucial role in ensuring the conference'sย success by selecting the most pertinent abstracts for both oral and poster presentations,ย aligning with the identified themes of the ICMH.

Their responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and selecting submitted paper/poster abstracts for conference presentationย sessions
  • Nominating and confirming invited speakers
  • Scheduling presentations and panel discussions
  • Identifying session moderators (chair and co-chair)
  • Appointing judges and masters of ceremony (MC) for the conference sessions
  • Designating rapporteurs
  • Finalizing the conference agenda

By fulfilling these roles, the SC ensures high standards of scientific content and contributes significantly to the advancement of the medical and health fields. The ICMH also serves as an important annual event for KGUMSB, aligning with the university's mission to promote excellence in medical education and research.
